What They're Saying about Blackstone Valley Bluegrass Band

Thank you gents for a wonderful concert! My Tuesday section did a most mortem this afternoon and here are a few of their comments:

Vocal harmonies were outta sight!  •  Loved their pacing.  •  You could tell they love making music  •  They played together like water, one taking the lead and the others still present adding balanced texture.  •  Blew me away that they switched instruments and played them with such virtuosity.  •  Joyful energy that made me tap my feet and smile.  •  I loved the quality of their voices together and individually.  •  Their humor was unforced and genuine.  •  I love country music, and while they don't sound like Johnny Cash, their honesty makes me think of his early recordings.

And the stinger from one of my football players:

I thought it was gonna be guys blowin' on jugs an' stuff, but it wasn't and I was totally overwhelmed.

You guys were great. I loved it all. You touched me deeply with Take me in your lifeboat. The a cappella beginning was stunning and the take-off into the Flatt and Scruggs presentation was a beautiful tribute to that iconic duo without being an imitation. Lovingly crafted and stunningly executed gentlemen. I would like to have you back next October if you will consider it.

Best,

WEDDING

THANK YOU BVBB for the best wedding music we could have dreamed of! John & I were so happy and I can't even tell you how many people complimented our choice of music! See you at one of your next shows! :)

Stephanie and John 10/12

I just wanted to thank BVBB for putting on a great performance at our Colonial Harvest Day event yesterday! You were the stars of the show, which we hoped you would be, and you more than met our expectations! I hope we can have you back again, with the possibility of having the BVBB perform on the new stage over on the Green next time. In the meantime, thanks again and let’s keep in touch.

WEDDING

Dear Dan, Bob, Dave and Ken - We are thrilled that you played music for us at our wedding on June 4th. You all were awesome to deal with the wind at the park and the quick trip back to the barn - I couldn't believe you were already playing when we arrived. Two of my favorite memories of the day are skipping down the aisle to "Happy Together" and dancing like crazy towards the end of your set with all the little kids. Fun made possible by you!! Sincerely, Meg and Dave 6/11 The skies opened up and the rains came at Freedomsong 3, the outdoor veterans fundraiser, & the members of Blackstone Valley Bluegrass band did not skip a beat. When it was decided to move everything inside, they eagerly agreed, and helped move equipment, all the while chatting it up and smiling. Not only were their personalities infectious to those around them, the music was phenomenal. Every note was the right note. Every harmony soared in perfect pitch. Though there were many highlights to Freedomsong 3, my personal highlight was BVBB.'

WEDDING

I just want to tell you that you were all fantastic. You were everything I wanted in a band - you are all extremely talented, happy and flexible! I can't believe you learned Time After Time AND Forever and Ever Amen for me two weeks before the wedding!! It truly made my wedding unique and I received so many compliments about your band. Recently, someone told me they wished you played for the whole wedding... which would have been awesome!! I would recommend Blackstone Valley Bluegrass for any occasion - because you are all professional, kind and damn good at playing your instruments!! Thanks again for a wonderful reception and for letting my dad play some guitar with you all! He loved that so much! Alicia Purdy, Pomfret, CT 6/10 You guys put on an incredible show. My friend Joey ... said to me, “you might hear as good as this, but you’ll never hear better”. My sentiments exactly and everyone in attendance felt privileged to be there. Thank you for giving this neck of the woods an opportunity to hear “the real deal”. Best of luck with your summer schedule, I hope to get up to your area to see you play soon.

WEDDING

You made our Wedding night such a wonderful time - the party was made by the music. We want you back for an encore! Ali and Emerson Allen, Union, CT 8/09 What a pleasure it was to welcome Blackstone Valley Bluegrass to the Pilgrim Church. It was such a wonderful evening. I'm still trying to figure out who had more fun - the band or the audience! I really think that the delight was equally shared - and that made for a whole lot of happy people. Thanks for making it happen!

WEDDING

BVBB is hands down the most toe-tappin', arms-flyin', jamtastic band around! They were incredibly accommodating for our recent wedding helping to make us both feel completely at ease knowing everything would be taken care of. Not only are they incredible musicians, they even learned how to play Cream's "Sunshine of Your Love" just for our wedding... and Halva Nagila (on the spot)! We loved their performance of the bluegrass first dance, "Ruby on the Railroad" as well! Countless people approached us both during and after the wedding saying..."I LOVED the band!" "That was the most fun wedding I've ever attended!" and "I had no idea bluegrass could be so amazing!" Thank you BVBB, we really appreciate it!

You guys were fantastic Saturday evening. I can’t say enough about how patient you were with me ...... and what a great show you put on. Thanks for being so easy to work with. As I mentioned, you will always have a home at Steeple as long as I have something to say about it. Please pass on my thanks and best wishes to the band. Best of luck with the debut CD, Debut. I look forward to seeing you all soon.

Sometimes in this life you get fortunate in the choices you make. We were fortunate in our choice of your musicians when we got the BVBB. A GREAT night on Friday. Many many compliments on the event.

Thanks again,

Debut is an acoustic stunner, bursting with fast-flying notes and sturdy vocal harmonies............no matter which direction the band chooses for an approach, the performances are inevitably crackling with an energy one is more accustomed to hearing from a stage than from stereo speakers.

Scott McLennan - Telegram and Gazette 3/30/2008

Hello, We couldn't have been more happy with the folks that turned out to see BVBB for the first time at the Steeple Coffeehouse. You have a loyal audience. The guys performed wonderfully - great musicianship, harmonies, songs and thoroughly entertaining stage presence. They won over everyone there. Thanks again for recommending BVBB, they are true musicians.

Best,
Gary Kavanaugh - Steeple Coffeehouse, Southborough, MA - 2007
