Hey BVBB Fans! This show is why we're together. This is the very first show that we ever did and the reason the band was put together.  Ken, as a member of the Recreation Committee, had to fill this slot with a band and he wanted a bluegrass theme.  We're still here and we start our 10th year together.   Come down and celebrate with us!!!   Click on the link above for directions.

"Debut” is an acoustic stunner, bursting with fast-flying notes and sturdy vocal harmonies............no matter which direction the band chooses for an approach, the performances are inevitably crackling with an energy one is more accustomed to hearing from a stage than from stereo speakers. "

You guys were fantastic Saturday evening. I can’t say enough about how patient you were with me ...... and what a great show you put on. Thanks for being so easy to work with. As I mentioned, you will always have a home at Steeple as long as I have something to say about it. Please pass on my thanks and best wishes to the band.

Best of luck with the debut CD, Debut. I look forward to seeing you all soon.
Cheers,
Joe Mercandante

BVBB is hands down the most toe-tappin', arms-flyin', jamtastic band around! They were incredibly accommodating for our recent wedding helping to make us both feel completely at ease knowing everything would be taken care of. Not only are they incredible musicians, they even learned how to play Cream's "Sunshine of Your Love" just for our wedding... and Halva Nagila (on the spot)! We loved their performance of the bluegrass first dance, "Ruby on the Railroad" as well!

Countless people approached us both during and after the wedding saying..."I LOVED the band!" "That was the most fun wedding I've ever attended!" and "I had no idea bluegrass could be so amazing!"

Thank you BVBB, we really appreciate it!

Dan, Dave, Ken and Bob:
Sometimes in this life you get fortunate in the choices you make.  We were fortunate in our choice of your musicians when we got the BVBB. A GREAT night on Friday.  Many many compliments on the event.
Thanks again,

Chris Wenzler

Hello,

We couldn't have been more happy with the folks that turned out to see BVBB for the first time at the Steeple Coffeehouse.  You have a loyal audience.  The guys performed wonderfully - great musicianship, harmonies, songs and thoroughly entertaining stage presence.  They won over everyone there.

Thanks again for recommending BVBB, they are true musicians.

Best,

Gary Kavanaugh

FAQS

Frequently Asked Questions:

What is Blackstone Valley Bluegrass?

We are four fellows who, at one point in time, all lived in the Blackstone Valley of Massachusetts. We all have backgrounds in music ranging from being career bluegrass musicians, to orchestra members, and even a member of drum and bugle corps. The four of us came together one summer in order to fill an opening in our hometown concert series. Afterwards we were so enthused about the ensemble we decided to keep it going. And thus was born Blackstone Valley Bluegrass.

Why are you named after a Valley?

We love the Blackstone Valley, and it has a rich history. Located in South Central Massachusetts and Rhode Island, running the length of "America's hardest working river," the 46-mile Blackstone, it is here that America's Industrial Revolution began in 1790. We theorize that exposure to the heavy metal content of the Blackstone River has produced the unusually large number of fine bluegrass pickers here. J

What is it that you do?

Well, primarily we have fun.  Although we think of ourselves as musicians and singers, we are most importantly entertainers. The music we play is fairly mainstream bluegrass; however we do mix up things quite a bit. We are neither "traditional" nor "progressive". You'll hear everything from well-known standards, blazing hot instrumentals, rollicking fiddle tunes, gospel quartets, even a folk song here and there. Our primary instrumentation is acoustic guitar, five string banjo, mandolin, and acoustic bass, and we feature excellent harmony singing.

Just who are these four fellows?

The band consists of the brothers Bob and Dave Dick, with Dan Nowlan and Ken Taylor.

Why should I have Blackstone Valley Bluegrass perform at my event?

We will increase the fun factor at almost any event. We appeal to a wide range of tastes in the bluegrass music style, and deliver a professional show with style and humor. Being performers with decades of experience you can count on us to entertain you and your audience.
