Blackstone Valley Bluegrass
CD's
Our new CD
"Soulshine"
(2011)

On our second CD
release "Soulshine"
each band member has brought varied material into the band resulting in a
wide variety of styles. Yet as we widen our range, we also have evolved a
unique style which runs through everything we do. From an up-tempo rendition
of Warren Haynes'
"Soulshine"
to an acapella version of the old classic "Life is Like a Mountain
Railroad", to the crazy pace of Dwight Yoakam's "Stayin Up Late" to the
sweet harmony singing of Rick Lang's "Lately" BVBB delivers a very
satisfying musical experience for the listener.

Presenting
our first CD: "Debut" (2007)

Metronome Magazine
says of their CD "Debut":
Blackstone Valley
Bluegrass...not only show's off their considerable
prowess on their respective stringed instruments but
thoroughly impress listeners with their superb vocal
harmonies as well. The songs...display the quartet's
superb vocals while the instrumentals...capture the
group's amazingly deft string work. They are among
the finest this region has to offer. Good stuff!
Telegram and
Gazette:
Scott McLennan of the
Telegram and
Gazette
writes; “Debut” is
an acoustic stunner, bursting with fast-flying notes
and sturdy vocal harmonies............no matter
which direction the band chooses for an approach,
the performances are inevitably crackling with an
energy one is more accustomed to hearing from a
stage than from stereo speakers. "

BVBB
was privileged to be involved in Dave
Dicks recent release on CMH records titled:
Pickin' on Dwight Yoakum
As a band we played the 2 instrumentals noted above.
Dave produced and played a number of instruments while his
brother Bob recorded, mixed and engineered the project. Lot's of hot
pickers were included in the project. Here's an apt description:
"Yoakams most popular
songs are completely reinvented with great success on this all-new collection. These
original arrangements capture Yoakams platinum selling sounds while bringing it back
to the bare-root essence of bluegrass."

BVBB was featured on this playing the song "This Time" from the Pickin' on
Dwight Yoakum CD that Dave produced.
CMH
Records continues to be a leader in the field of country and Bluegrass music. As
you will hear in this outstanding collection of classic and contemporary roots
music, the independent record label from Los Angeles has much to celebrate. CMH
Records was born in 1975 when founders Martin Haerle and Arthur Smith teamed up
to record and release the music of the biggest names in Bluegrass. Lester Flatt,
The Osborne Brothers, Jim & Jesse, Mac Wiseman, Merle Travis, Grandpa Jones,
Carl Story, Don Reno, The Bluegrass Cardinals, The Stonemans and many others
recorded some of their finest work for CMH during the ‘70s and ‘80s. The label
accumulated a rich catalog of classic American music, garnering numerous awards
and Grammy nominations along the way.
Catalog #: CMH-1799
Bob
Dick's first solo project is an excellent showcase of his instrumental and
vocal skills (Bob sings lead and harmony, plays bass, mandolin, guitar, and
fiddle!) as well as his arranging, recording and engineering expertise.
Featuring guest visits by brother David Dick on banjo and the New Hampshire
master of the Dobro, Roger Williams. Bluegrass with a modern flavor, yet
true to the spirit of Christmas which inspired these classic songs, this CD
deserves a place in any acoustic music lover's collection.
